Calculate a percentage change between two values
MA19-04
This lesson is coming soon.
In this lesson
Use the formula (change divided by original) times 100 to calculate the percentage change between a given original value and a final value.
What it covers
- Correctly identifying which given value is the original and which is the final/new value
- Calculating the change between them (final minus original)
- Applying the formula (change / original) x 100 as its own explicit final step
- Interpreting the result as either an increase or a decrease

| OCR GCSE J560 | 2.03c | Increase or decrease a quantity by a simple percentage, including simple decimal or fractional multipliers. Apply this to simple original value problems and simple interest. |
For teachers
This GCSE Maths lesson teaches calculate a percentage change between two values. By the end, students should be able to use the formula (change divided by original) times 100 to calculate the percentage change between a given original value and a final value. It works through two worked examples and the mistakes examiners report.
