In this lesson
Use and rearrange speed = distance / time, keeping time and speed units consistent throughout the calculation.
What it covers
- Use speed = distance / time and its two rearrangements (distance = speed x time, time = distance / speed)
- Convert a duration given in hours and minutes into decimal hours correctly (e.g. 9 hours 36 minutes = 9.6 hours, not 9.36)
- Keep units consistent through a multi-step calculation, converting back to the required unit rather than leaving an answer in an intermediate unit (e.g. minutes)
- Convert between related speed units (e.g. km/h to m/s) using the correct factor and direction
