In this lesson
Recognise a linear graph and a quadratic graph by shape alone, and sketch the correct family for a given equation without plotting a table of values.
What it covers
- Recognising a linear graph (straight line) vs a quadratic graph (U-shaped parabola) by shape only
- Linking the sign of the x coefficient/x^2 coefficient to the direction of the line/curve (upward vs downward slope; U vs n shape)
- Sketching a quick, unscaled shape for y=mx+c and y=ax^2+bx+c from the equation alone
- Picking the correct graph out of several plausible-looking distractor options
