In this lesson
Construct and interpret bar charts (including dual and composite bar charts), pictograms and vertical line charts for categorical or discrete data, choosing an appropriate scale or key.
What it covers
- Constructing a bar chart from a frequency table with an even scale and equal-width, equally-spaced bars
- Constructing and reading dual (side-by-side) and composite (stacked) bar charts comparing two data series with a key
- Constructing and reading a pictogram, including where the key states one symbol represents a value other than 1, and interpreting a partial symbol
- Constructing and reading a vertical line chart for ungrouped discrete numerical data (e.g. number of siblings)
- Choosing which of these chart types is appropriate for categorical data versus discrete numerical data
